DebtFreeAmerica.com (formerly known as Harbour Counseling Services ) was formed as a non-profit agency in December 1995 to serve as a nationwide provider of Credit Counseling Services. DebtFreeAmerica.com maintains a license with the Virginia State Department of Banking, and meets with the various licensing, bonding, and other requirements for other states where clients are serviced. DebtFreeAmerica.com maintains various security bonds to remain in compliance with state laws. We are member in the Consumer Federation of America, and The Better Business Bureau, Association of Credit Counseling Professionals , and are currently certified by BSI:ISO-9001 2008. Our counselor training program is certified by the National Institute for Financial Education.

All of our counselors receive extensive debt counselor training and must be certified within twelve months of their individual hire date. Many of our counselors hold business and finance degrees as well. Additionally,  DebtFreeAmerica.com provides free financial counseling classes and seminars to local ministries, educational institutions, and special interest groups.
